Buffalo horn and holly thumbstick. The holly has been stripped of its bark and the wood is a very pale cream colour.

This is a fancy carved fork from apple wood, it sits very comfortably in the hand and is finished on a mottled hazel shank.

A spalted beech fork capped with red deer antler on a hazel shank. Spalting in timber is caused by a fungus in the grain. It does not affect the strength of the wood and adds very attractive markings

Red deer antler tines make great thumbsticks. They are usually capped with a contrasting material here its buffalo horn. the first tine on this one I have made into a whistle.
